Lynch of Tryon. N.C . and Patricia C. Lynch of Columbus, N. C., recently participated in a Division-size field firing exercise. He is a member of Sth Battalion. 10th Marines, based at Camp Lejeune. N. C. During the three-week exercise conducted at Fort Bragg, N. C., his unit practiced all aspects of field artillery employment. They fired the eight-inch howitzer and the 175mm gun under simulated combat conditions, both night and day. Additionally, they conducted tactical road and cross-country marches. Lynch joined the Marine Corps in November 1979. His wife, Beverly, is the daughter of Garath and Dorothy Hughes of Franklin, N. C. Tryon Lions Meet Tonight The Tryon Lions Club will meet tonight at the Pacolet River Plantation,7:00p.m. Arnold Grape, White Cane Chairman of the Asheville Lions Club will present the program. Student of Week Nancy McKaig Tryon Beta Student of the week for this week is Miss Nancy McKaig Nancy is the twelve- year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B McKaig. She has an older brother. Bryan, 14, and a younger sister. Pamela. 8. Nancy is in Mrs. Carter's 7th grade homeroom and is her homeroom's Student Council representative. She also maintains an “A" average in her school work. One of Nancy’s many time consuming hobbies is baton twirling. She is the marjorette of the Tryon High School band and has received over 100 trophies in majorette competition. Nancy is also a Tryon Sidewinders cheerleader. She is a very well-like student- around Tryon Elementary School. — Reporter Woods Fire The Tryon Fire Department was called to a woods fire at Long Lane Farm in the Hunting Country Sunday about 3:15 p.m. The firemen put out the fire in a short time. Spending the Thanksgiving holidays with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cloud and sister, Miss Carol Cloud of Tryon will be Mr. and Mrs. Bob Perrone (Jeanne) of Tallahassee, Fla. and Ms. Katheryn Cloud of Charlotte. Thanksgiving Service In Columbus The Columbus Community Thanksgiving Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25th, at 7:30 p.m Columbus at the United Methodist Church Everyone is welcome Closed Thurs. & Fri. The Polk County offices will be closed for Thanksgiving Holidays, Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shelton of Tryon will have their granddaughter. Miss Allison Murphey as their Thanksgiving guest. Miss Murphey was voted the top Junior Teen Fashion Model in Florida
